Sub for Santa visits the Adoption Exchange

Every year, The Advocates donate money to buy presents for children in need for the Sub for Santa program. The last few years we have participated in the Angel Tree. This year we decided to do something different. One of our employees heard about this program on the news. It is called the Adoption Exchange. They are an adoption agency located in Utah.

We chose 5 kids age ranging from 14 - 17 years old. Each child had written a list of wants and needs. The Sponsor was to buy all the needs and get at least one want. It was really fun to go out and get the wants they had listed, knowing that on Christmas Day, Santa had brought them what they wished for. I only wished we could be there when that happens. It brings us peace, joy and many blessings to know that we have done something for someone.

Is Your Time Running Out?

Statute of Limitations - The time limit for your case.

In order to recover on a personal injury case in Utah, you must file within a specified period of time based on the type of injury and who you are suing. This time period is called the Statute of Limitations.

The statute of limitations for personal injury cases in Utah ranges from 1 to 4 years depending on the case. In order to avoid this statute, it is usually best to consult an attorney sooner rather than later.

You may not have any visual injuries now, but it could come out later and later may be too late.

Happy Halloween !!

This year, The Advocates decided to dress up and have a Halloween costume contest. Those that lost would have to buy lunch for the entire firm, (that way we would have more participation!) The winner would receive a nights stay at the Zurmont Resort in Midway, UT. We had two categories : 1) Best Overall and 2) Most Original. The winner of the Most Original was the shower curtain and the winner of Best Overall went to the Queen. Other participants were a mummy, nun, Monty Python, Sonny and no Cher, a zombie, and Jack from the Nightmare before Christmas.

Free Living Wills and Consultations!!!

The Advocates have been attending a few trade shows this year, providing the public with Free Living Wills, Free Consultations with an Attorney, and some fun give away prizes such as an IPOD. Our goal is to educate the public on personal injury cases and to give them peace of mind with their case. Many of the visitors to our booth learn that there is a statute of limitations on some cases and if they don't act soon the statute will run out and they have lost their chance at justice. So if you are interested in coming out to see us and see what we are about, we will be attending the 10th Annual Women Show at the South Towne Expo Center on November 6-7, 2009. Call us and we will send you a coupon for $2.00 off of the admission price.

Personal Injury Protection (PIP) Insurance

PIP Benefits: Utah law requires that you purchase automobile insurance to protect yourself when you are in an automobile collision. This insurance is called Personal Injury Protection and is often referred to as PIP.

No Fault: you must first make a claim against your own automobile insurance for PIP benefits before making a claim against the at-fault driver. Utah is considered a "no fault" state because you have to make a claim against your own insurance company regardless of who was at fault for causing the collision.

Minimum PIP Benefits: Utah law requires the following minimum PIP benefits in every automobile insurance policy:
** Payment of up to $3,000.00 of medical bills related to your injuries
** Payment of up to $250,000 of lost income per week (maximum of 52 weeks)
** Payment of household services of up to $20.00 per day.

Call your Insurance Company: PIP benefits are typically paid by your automobile insurance company without much hassle. Call your insurance company to obtain a claim number and an application form to recieve PIP benefits.

Use your PIP Benefits: Provide your medical providers with the name of your automobile insurance company and , if you have it, give your medical provider your PIP claim number.

Contact The Advocates and see how our personal injury lawyers can help you receive what you deserve.
